Instructions for Transferring IVA+Plus or IVA-AE to a New Computer

The following steps need to be followed whenever you may need to

a)  Reinstall your Windows Operating System on your current computer,
b)  Update to a new version of Windows on your current computer, or
c)  Replace or move to a new computer.

In order to make the software license available to be registered on another computer, you will need to wipe the license from the existing computer first. Once the license is removed from the “old” computer, we will be able to register the software on the new computer. To begin the process of transferring the software, we’ll first need to verify how many tests/reports you currently have remaining on your system.  Follow the instructions below to find this information.

Step 1: Record the number of IVA tests and reports that are remaining on the old PC (if applicable)

  1. Launch the IVA Test Battery program
  2. Go to the Register menu and select “View Licenses”
  3. Open a Support Ticket (or reply to the one you’ve already opened) and include the above information from the “View Licenses” screen along with your contact information and state you need to transfer your test licenses to a new computer.

After verifying your record and confirming that your support contract is valid, BrainTrain Technical Support will issue you a “Reset” license to remove the licenses from your old computer.  You would follow the instructions below to install the “Reset” license on the old PC and then notify support (reply back to your ticket confirmation) that the license has been applied.

Step 2: Wipe the registration from the old PC

Before wiping the registration from the old PC, its a good idea to check and be sure that the software installs and runs on the new PC.  This will help prevent any downtime that could occur if the license is wiped from the old PC and then an issue is discovered with the new PC, leaving you unable to administer tests.

Automatic Transfer Instructions:
To wipe the registration of your software automatically, simply follow the instructions below. You must have an internet connection to use the automatic registration process below. If you do not have an internet connection on the computer that is being registered, you can get the registration code(s) needed for a manual registration from any computer with an internet connection by following the instructions in this article. Be sure to record the number of tests and reports that are remaining before wiping the license (see Step 1 above).

  1. Open the BrainTrain program.
  2. Click on the Register menu and select “Enter Registration”
  3. Make sure you have the appropriate testing program selected (IVA-Plus or IVA-AE)
  4. Click on “Register Automatically”
  5. Enter your customer number and password (included in your support ticket)
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen to apply the “Reset” license

Step 3: Install the software on the new PC and notify BrainTrain that the registration has been wiped from the old PC. INCLUDE THE NUMBER OF TESTS/REPORTS YOU HAVE REMAINING IN YOUR REPLY.

After verification of the Reset license application, BrainTrain Technical Support will then be able to issue the licenses for usage on the new PC.

NOTE: Tests can only be registered in blocks of 10, 25, 50, or 100.  If you have a quantity of tests or reports that cannot be registered, you may need to purchase the next higher quantity of tests/reports with a credit applied towards that purchase for the value of tests/reports that were remaining on the old PC.

Step 4: Register the software on the new PC after receiving notification from BrainTrain that your licenses are now ready for usage on the new PC.

  6. Follow the instructions on the screen to apply any available licenses.  When prompted for a new “Registration Name”, you can enter anything you like there.  Commonly, customers will usually enter their last name or their business name.
